The David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center opened in April 1964 as the New York State Theater. The theater was designed by the renowned architect Philip Johnson, built with funds from the State of New York, and given to the City of New York as a home for performing arts organizations. Today, the theater is home to the New York City Ballet as well as a growing number of national and international touring performing arts groups.
The Light Board Operator is an assistant in the 8 person electrics crew reporting to the Head Electrician. The Light Board Operator is accountable for the upkeep, functionality and efficient operation of all theater and house lighting control equipment and systems at the David H. Koch Theater. The position ensures the timely and accurate realization of lighting control for all events in the Theater and ancillary spaces in the venue. They must be willing and able to accomplish all tasks within the Electrics department as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will be involved with load-in/out, setup, rehearsal, and performance of all presentations at the David H. Koch Theater.
· Supervise IATSE employees, and be able to assume a leadership role when required.
Experience directing large crews preferred.
· Provide administrative support to the Electrics Head of Department and assist with coordination of work objectives between NYCB and DHKT Production Management.
· Setting and operating lighting control systems.
· Configuration of lighting networks
Minimum Requirements
· The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills and experience in a wide variety of presentations including.
· Ability to understand the work and needs of both New York City Ballet and outside licensees, and to anticipate potential problems, and provide solutions.
· Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of persons both within the department and without. The ability to work as a member of a team supporting others to accomplish goals.
· Advanced knowledge of ETC EOS family console software, lighting control systems and networks.
· Ability to attend to numerous projects concurrently; the ability to respond positively, effectively and quickly to continually shifting priorities and needs.
· Superior verbal and written communication skills.
This is a union position and work hours vary according to the event schedule and may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and other scheduled work periods as necessary.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to:
o Standing for extended periods throughout the day.
o Theater and studio settings
o Office setting

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the minimum requirements of this position:
o Regularly requires standing for extended periods of time.
o Regularly requires working at height.
o Requires lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
This union position has a minimum hourly rate of $51.66 in addition to overtime, show pay, benefits in accordance with the CBA.
