November 6, 2007
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is absolutely imperative that all Local One members stay in constant contact with the Union office from November 7th through November 9th. Updates of the progress or lack of progress of our negotiating sessions with The League of American Theatres and Producers will be provided on our website, www.iatselocalone.org and hotline number 646-459-1916.
Please be advised that if in the next few days it becomes necessary to exercise our legal rights in the defense of this Union, I will provide times and locations, as well as responsibilities of all to make sure that our members are well informed and know exactly what is necessary to proceed.
As I have previously communicated, International President Thomas C. Short will join the Local One Contract Negotiating Committee at the scheduled meeting with the League on Wednesday, November 7th, and if necessary, November 8th and 9th.
Pursuant to the I.A.T.S.E. Constitution’s requirement for strike authority, which I formally requested on October 24, 2007, the President of the I.A.T.S.E. or his designated representative must attend negotiations to make a determination before strike authority can be granted.
In closing, I urge you all to not believe everything you read in the newspapers. President Short and I have been communicating regularly in the past week and I assure you that tomorrow morning, The League of American Theatres and Producers will be meeting with a united I.A.T.S.E.
Respectfully and Fraternally,
James J. Claffey, Jr.
President
Local One, I.A.T.S.E.
cc: International President Thomas C. Short
