IATSE Local One Ratifies New Contract Covering All TV Studios at NBC Rockefeller Center
NBC TV studio stagehands of Local One of the International Alliance of
Theatrical Stage Employees late today (10/03) ratified unanimously a new contract with NBC
Universal TV covering all stagehand work performed in its Rockefeller Center studios, including
studios cablecasting MSNBC news programs.
Originally, NBC Universal TV had sought to import non-union stagehands who had been
employed in its non-union New Jersey facility to work MSNBC programing in New York City.
In addition to enforcing Local One's jurisdiction for all work at NBC's studios and gaining
the stagehand jobs at MSNBC, all Local One stagehands at NBC Universal TV won wage and
benefit increases for the 30-month agreement.
For 121 years, Local One has been the premiere stagehand union
of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. The union represents 3,000 property
persons, stage and studio electricians, set carpenters, sound designers, audio technicians,
moving-light operators, riggers and special effects people in New York. |
