An Urgent Message from the Office of the President and the Recording-Corresponding Secretary about the “Kentucky River” Decision

August 7, 2006

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The Executive Board of Local One, I.A.T.S.E. wants you to be aware of an extremely important Union issue which needs your immediate attention. The National Labor Relations Board is about to make a decision which could greatly impact your livelihood. The “Kentucky River” decision, if passed, would make it lawful for employers to exclude all department heads and basic crew members from the union bargaining unit. This transition would also remove the union’s provisions and protections on behalf of hundreds of our members who would be designated as management.

The “Kentucky River" case is anti-Union, anti-Labor, anti-YOU! YOU must act now!
Please sign the linked form letters immediately and mail to Senator Charles Schumer 757 Third Avenue, Suite 17-02, New York, NY 10017-2013, 212-486-4430 and/or Senator Hilary Clinton, 780 Third Avenue, Suite 2601, New York, NY 10017-2024, 212-688-6262 and/or your Federal and State Congressional leaders - the names and addresses of which can be easily found on the website: www.unionvoice.org/campaigns/kyrivercases.

If you prefer to use the internet to communicate with your elected officials go to the website www.unionvoice.org/campaign/kyrivercases and enter your information. The message will then be sent to the elected government officials in your area.

For more information, contact the AFL-CIO at 815 16th Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20006 (202-637-5000) or by going to their website.

DO THIS TODAY! TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE!

Sincerely & Fraternally,

James J. Claffey, Jr.
President

Robert Score
Recording-Corresponding Secretary
