On Thursday, August 3, 2006, Actors’ Equity Association (A.E.A.) put
a picket line outside the “American Girl Place” located on 49th
Street and 5th Avenue. Local One was contacted by A.E.A. and was requested
to send members over there to stand in solidarity with their members. Local
802 Musicians also received the same request. Local One and Local 802 sent
members to the site on Thursday. Due to this action, Friday’s first show
at 12:30 has been cancelled.
On Friday, August 4, 2006, A.E.A. will continue its organizing efforts starting
at 9:00 a.m. It is a critical time for the employees who walked out of the
venue seeking union representation.
Brothers and Sisters, the Executive Board of Local One is requesting its members
to please go to 49th Street and 5th Avenue to stand proud in solidarity with
the members of Actors’ Equity in their endeavor to organize this venue.
Anytime from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Look for Local One’s banner and check
with the Picket Duty Captain.
