BLMC/BSMC Registration Now Open
Registration is now open for this year's Broadway Lighting and Sound Master Classes, to be held June 16-20 at John Jay College in New York. Those who would like to attend this year's event can now register online here. Registration forms will also be available in the April issues of Entertainment Design and Lighting Dimensions, and forms will additionally be handed out at the USITT and NSCA trade shows.

The Broadway Lighting Master Classes are back, along with the second annual Broadway Sound Master Classes, for a two-part season of professional-level training by the masters of Broadway design.

The 2004 BLMC faculty, once again led by Tony Award-winning LD Jules Fisher, includes Peggy Eisenhauer, Vivian Leone, Wendall Harrington, Beverly Emmons, Clifton Taylor, Donald Holder, and Brian MacDevitt.
JUST ANNOUNCED: BLMC SCHEDULE INCLUDES SPECIAL SESSION ON THE INTEGRATION OF LIGHTING & PROJECTION: Find out how projections are becoming an essential part of production design as projection, scenic and lighting designer Peter Wexler moderate a special session featuring projection designer Wendall K. Harrington, automated lighting programmer Laura Frank, and projection/scenic designer Peter Nigrini.
DOUBLE TONY-NOMINATED DESIGNER BRIAN MacDEVITT MAKES FIRST APPEARANCE AT BLMC: One of the top names in Broadway lighting design, Brian MacDevitt, will appear for the first time at the BLMC this year, addressing the fine art of the design process. His very busy season was crowned with a two Tony nominations in the same category, Best Lighting Design, for his work on the revivals of Fiddler On The Roof on Broadway, and Henry IV at Lincoln Center Theatre.
BLMC FACULTY JULES FISHER AND PEGGY EISENHAUER WIN DRAMA DESK AWARD FOR THE LIGHTING OF ASSASSINS: Creative consultant and head of the BLMC faculty, Jules Fisher, and his design partner Peggy Eisenhauer, were not only nominated for a Tony Award for their lighting of the current revival of Assassins on Broadway, but their incredible work on this show was already honored with the 2003-04 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lighting Design.
BSMC SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE BOARD OPERATORS PANEL: Don't miss the BSMC's first sound operators panel featuring Bob Biasetti, Kai Harada, Jim van Bergen, and more as they share the tips and techniques that make for successful sound.
BSMC FACULTY MEMBER DAN MOSES SCHRIER WINS OUTSTANDING SOUND DESIGN DRAMA DESK AWARD FOR ASSASSINS: Dan Moses Schreier, who is part of the BSMC faculty this year, won the 2003-04 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Sound Design for his work on Assassins.

The second annual Broadway Sound Master Classes, headed up by legendary sound designer Abe Jacob, will be held on Friday, June 18 through Sunday, June 20. Speakers confirmed for this year's event include Tony Meola, Dan Moses Schreier, Rob Milburn, and John Kilgore.
In addition to the classes, participants will have the opportunity to see the brand new Broadway production of the Tony Kushner musical Caroline, or Change, featuring lighting by Fisher and Eisenhauer and sound by John Weston, on Thursday, June 17, as well as attending the annual Entertainment Design EDDY Awards, the industry's annual must-attend party, on Friday, June 18. This year's honorees will be announced soon.
